If you'll be seeking a job with a firm or company, you should probably obtain a degree or diploma from a formal education facility. However, if you'll be working for yourself, a college education is a bit less crucial. What truly matters in the freelance development world is results. You need to show potential clients what you've done, and what you can do.

Professional web development can be a very lucrative business, especially if you know how to market yourself. There are lots of sites where job seekers and freelance professionals can post their resumes, portfolios, and advertise their services. And don't forget about advertising locally -- you just might find some clients in your area looking for a good web developer!
